JoinHikes is free to read, and we want to be open about how the site is supported.
What affiliate links are
Some of our pages, especially our Lodging and Travel Gear guides, may contain affiliate links. If you click one of these links and then book a hotel, buy a product or reserve a tour, we may earn a small commission from that company.
This costs you nothing extra. The price you pay is the same whether you use our link or go directly to the website.
How it affects our recommendations
It doesn’t. We recommend hotels, areas and gear because we think they’re a good fit for the trip we’re writing about, not because of a commission. If a cheaper or better option exists without an affiliate link, we’ll still tell you about it. Companies cannot pay to be included in our guides.
How to spot affiliate links
Pages that contain affiliate links include a short note near the top of the article. Buttons such as “Check price” or “Check availability” are usually affiliate links.
