Hotels Near Zion National Park (2026): Where to Stay, Best Areas & Zion Lodge

Picking a hotel for Zion is less about finding the “best” hotel and more about finding the right spot on the map. Two hotels can both claim to be “near Zion” and still give you completely different trips. One lets you walk into the park with your coffee in hand. The other has you sitting in morning traffic, hunting for a parking space while the first shuttles leave without you.

This guide to hotels near Zion National Park starts with the question that really matters: where should your base be? Then it walks through the best hotels in each area, who each one suits, and the small details (parking fees, shuttle stops, breakfast, pools) that make a bigger difference than star ratings once you’re there.

⚠️ October 2026 update: The Zion-Mount Carmel Highway (Route 9) between Canyon Junction and the East Entrance has been closed since a large rockfall on September 30, 2026, and there’s no reopening date yet. Zion Canyon, the shuttle and Springdale are open as normal. But hotels and glamping on the east side of the park (Mount Carmel Junction, Orderville, Kanab) are now a long drive around to reach Zion Canyon, so for now it makes much more sense to stay on the Springdale side. Check the park’s alerts before you book anything east of Zion.

Where Is the Best Place to Stay Near Zion National Park?

Springdale is the best place to stay near Zion National Park for most visitors. The town sits right outside the South Entrance, has the widest choice of hotels and restaurants, and a free shuttle links the whole town to the park’s pedestrian entrance. If you want to sleep inside the park itself, Zion Lodge is the only hotel in Zion Canyon, but it has limited rooms and books up months ahead.

Quick picks: best overall area is Springdale. Best if location beats everything is north Springdale near Zion Canyon Village. The only stay inside the park is Zion Lodge. Families usually do best in central or south Springdale. And on a Zion and Bryce road trip, stay in Springdale for Zion, then move hotels rather than commuting.

What to Know Before You Book a Hotel Near Zion

Zion works differently from most national parks, and that changes which hotel makes sense.

You usually can’t drive into Zion Canyon. For most of the year, private cars aren’t allowed on the Zion Canyon Scenic Drive, where Angels Landing, The Narrows and Emerald Pools all start. In 2026 the park shuttle runs from March 7 to November 28, and again from December 26 to January 2. So being “close to the trailheads by road” doesn’t help much. What matters is how easily you can reach the shuttle.

Springdale has its own free shuttle. It runs along Zion Park Boulevard during shuttle season, stopping near most hotels and dropping you at the park’s pedestrian entrance. That’s why a hotel a mile down the road can still be easy, and why parking matters so much. Parking inside the park fills early, and most parking in Springdale is paid.

Distance on paper can fool you. A hotel in Hurricane might look “only” 40 minutes away. But add park traffic, a full visitor center lot, paid parking in town and the shuttle queue, and you can lose well over an hour every morning. For a short trip, that’s often worth more than the money you save.

Should You Stay Inside Zion National Park?

Stay inside Zion if waking up in the canyon matters more to you than restaurant choice or price. Zion Lodge is the only lodging inside the park, with about 76 hotel rooms, 6 suites and 40 historic cabins. For everyone else, Springdale is easier and more flexible.

Zion Lodge: The Only Hotel Inside Zion National Park

Zion Lodge sits in the middle of Zion Canyon, at shuttle stop 5, with sandstone walls rising on every side and a big shady lawn out front. The location is the whole point. The Emerald Pools trails start across the road, The Grotto (for Angels Landing) is one shuttle stop away, and once the day crowds leave in the evening, the canyon goes surprisingly quiet.

The lodge has its own dining too. The Red Rock Grill is open all year, while the Castle Dome Café and a beer garden are seasonal. It’s the only place inside the park that serves food, which is handy at lunchtime even if you’re staying elsewhere.

Be clear about what you’re paying for, though. This is a historic national park lodge, not a luxury resort. Rooms are comfortable and simple. The luxury here is the setting.

Zion Lodge Cabins vs Rooms vs Suites

Room TypeWhat You GetBest For
Western cabinsHistoric stand-alone cabins with a gas fireplace, private porch, full bath, mini-fridge and microwaveCouples, atmosphere, special trips
Lodge hotel roomsStandard rooms with a private balcony or porch and a mini-fridgeFamilies, simple in-park convenience
SuitesMore space and a separate sitting areaLonger stays, extra room to spread out

Can Zion Lodge Guests Drive Into Zion Canyon?

Yes. Overnight lodge guests can drive the scenic drive to the lodge’s guest parking during shuttle season, using the access details that come with the reservation. You can’t drive on to other trailheads, though. From the lodge you walk or ride the shuttle like everyone else.

Downsides of Staying at Zion Lodge

There are only around 120 rooms and cabins for a park that gets millions of visitors, so dates go quickly. Dining is limited to the lodge’s own restaurants. And getting into Springdale for dinner means a shuttle ride each way, so keep an eye on the last bus of the evening. Prices are usually higher than comparable rooms in town.

Springdale Hotels Near Zion: The Best Areas

Springdale is a small town stretched along one main road, Zion Park Boulevard, with the park entrance at its northern end. Hotel addresses on this road tell you a lot. Lower numbers are closer to the park.

It helps to think of the town in three parts: north Springdale (by Zion Canyon Village and the pedestrian entrance), central Springdale (the busy middle, with most restaurants and shops), and south Springdale (larger chain hotels, a bit farther out). Each suits a different kind of trip.

North Springdale: Best for Walking Into Zion

This is the best location outside the park. You can leave your car at the hotel for your whole stay and walk to the pedestrian entrance, often in under ten minutes. It’s ideal for early hikers, travelers without a car and couples who want to stroll back for dinner. The trade-off is price. Location this good is rarely cheap.

Cable Mountain Lodge: Best Location Outside the Park

At 147 Zion Park Boulevard, Cable Mountain Lodge sits beside Zion Canyon Village, just steps from the pedestrian entrance. That’s its big selling point. You roll out of bed, grab breakfast and walk straight to the shuttle line.

Rooms are studios and suites with mini-fridges and microwaves (some have kitchenettes), plus a pool and hot tub and on-site parking. If park access is your number one priority, this is one of the first places to check.

Best for: early hikers, couples, families who want a suite, travelers without a car.

Cliffrose Springdale: Best Upscale Stay Near the Entrance

Cliffrose Springdale, part of Hilton’s Curio Collection, is at 281 Zion Park Boulevard, a short walk from the park. It feels more like a small resort than a hiking hotel: landscaped gardens running down to the Virgin River, pools, a spa and an on-site restaurant.

If you want something special after long days on the trail, this is a strong pick. You get walkability and proper upscale comfort in one place.

Best for: couples, anniversaries, Hilton Honors members, anyone wanting a nicer stay without giving up location.

Desert Pearl Inn: Best for River Views and Big Rooms

The Desert Pearl Inn is a long-time Springdale favorite near the north end of town, right on the Virgin River. It’s known for spacious rooms, many with balconies or patios facing the river and cliffs, and a pool area with a great view. It’s within walking distance of the park for most people, and a Springdale shuttle stop is close by.

Best for: couples and families who want more room and a riverside setting.

Flanigan’s Resort & Spa: Best Boutique Stay

Flanigan’s, at 450 Zion Park Boulevard, is about a five-minute walk from the park entrance. It’s an independent, boutique-style property with rooms, suites and private villas, a pool, a spa and its own restaurant, the Spotted Dog. Many rooms have balconies or terraces.

It’s a nice middle ground: close enough to walk into Zion, but quieter and more relaxed than the hotels right at the gate. The villas are a good fit for small groups or families who want more space.

Best for: couples, small groups, travelers who prefer character over chains.

Central Springdale: Best Overall for First-Time Visitors

If someone asked me where to stay for a first Zion trip and gave me no other details, central Springdale would be my answer. You may not be able to walk to the gate, but you’re on the shuttle line, close to most of the town’s restaurants, cafés, outfitters and grocery stops, and you have the biggest choice of hotels.

Red Cliffs Lodge Zion: Best Modern Springdale Hotel

Red Cliffs Lodge Zion, a Tribute Portfolio hotel by Marriott, is at 792 Zion Park Boulevard, a little over a mile from the South Entrance. It was fully renovated and rebranded (it used to be the La Quinta), so rooms feel fresh and modern. There are king rooms, two-queen rooms and one-bedroom suites with patios, plus a heated pool, hot tub, fire pits and the Scout Bar & Grill on site. It’s also pet-friendly.

Best for: couples, families, Marriott Bonvoy members, travelers with a dog.

Best Western Plus Zion Canyon Inn & Suites: Solid All-Rounder

At 668 Zion Park Boulevard, this is a dependable mid-range choice in the middle of town, with breakfast included, a pool and easy access to restaurants and the town shuttle. Nothing fancy, but it does the job well.

Best for: travelers who want a reliable chain hotel at a fair price.

Driftwood Lodge: Best Views for the Money

Driftwood Lodge sits on the south side of central Springdale with wide views across to the canyon walls. It’s often mentioned as one of the better price-to-quality options in town, with a pool and an on-site restaurant. Book a view room if you can. Watching the cliffs turn orange from your balcony at sunset is a big part of the appeal.

Best for: couples and anyone who wants scenery without top-tier prices.

South Springdale: Best for Families and Value

Farther from the entrance, you’ll find the bigger chain hotels. You won’t casually walk into the park from here, but with the free town shuttle that rarely matters during the season. What you often gain is more space, free breakfast, family pools and, on some dates, lower rates.

A simple rule: if you’re going to ride the shuttle every day anyway, don’t pay a big premium just to be in north Springdale.

SpringHill Suites Springdale Zion National Park: Best for Families Needing Space

About a mile from the South Entrance, SpringHill Suites is all suites, with a sofa bed in each room, which makes a real difference for families. There’s a free hot breakfast, a seasonal outdoor pool, a hot tub, a fitness room and guest laundry. Pets are allowed for a fee.

One thing to note: Marriott lists paid on-site parking here (around $20 a night at the time of writing). Check the current fee when you book.

Best for: families, longer stays, early starters who want breakfast on site.

Hampton Inn & Suites Springdale: Best Familiar Chain

At 1127 Zion Park Boulevard, the Hampton is what you’d expect from the brand: modern rooms, free breakfast, an outdoor pool and no surprises. It’s a good pick if you like predictable comfort and Hilton points.

Holiday Inn Express Springdale: Easy Family Choice

At 1215 Zion Park Boulevard, near the southern edge of town, the Holiday Inn Express is another family-friendly option with breakfast, a pool and plenty of rooms. It’s often worth checking when the hotels closer to the park are full or overpriced.

Budget Motels in Springdale

Springdale also has a handful of simple, older motels and small independent inns, such as the Zion Park Motel. Rooms are basic, but you still get the Springdale location and shuttle access. For a hiking trip where you only need a clean bed and a shower, these can be the smartest money you spend.

How the Springdale Shuttle Changes Your Hotel Choice

The free Springdale shuttle is why hotel location here works differently from most park towns. During the season, buses run up and down Zion Park Boulevard and drop you at the pedestrian entrance, where you walk into the park and board the canyon shuttle at the visitor center.

So when you compare hotels, don’t just look at “miles to Zion.” Look at these instead:

  • How far is the nearest Springdale shuttle stop?
  • Can you walk to restaurants in the evening?
  • Is parking included, or is there a daily fee?
  • Is breakfast included, and what time does it start?
  • Is there a pool, and is it open in your travel month?
  • Does the room layout actually fit your group?

Winter note: outside shuttle season (in 2026, roughly November 29 to December 25 and early January to early March), neither shuttle runs. You can drive the scenic drive yourself, but parking fills and the road can close when it does. A hotel within walking distance of the entrance is extra useful in winter.

Is It Better to Stay in Springdale or Inside Zion?

For most visitors, Springdale is better: more hotels, more restaurants, more price choice and easy shuttle access. Zion Lodge is better if you want the most immersive experience and don’t mind fewer dining options and higher demand.

Can’t decide? Some travelers split it: one night at Zion Lodge for the evening calm in the canyon, then the rest of the trip in Springdale.

Best Hotels Near Zion by Type of Traveler

Best Hotels Near Zion for Families

With kids, room layout beats star rating every time. Look for free breakfast, a pool, a fridge, a sofa bed or two queen beds, guest laundry and easy food nearby. Saving ten minutes of walking matters less than having space and a pool to cool off in after a hot hike.

Good starting points: SpringHill Suites (suites, breakfast, pool), Cable Mountain Lodge (suites right by the entrance), Red Cliffs Lodge Zion (suites and a heated pool), the Holiday Inn Express and Hampton Inn (breakfast and pools), and Zion Lodge if you can get the right room. For ideas on keeping everyone happy in the park, see our guide to the best things to do in Zion National Park.

Best Hotels Near Zion for Couples

For couples, put atmosphere and location first. Cliffrose has the resort feel, spa and riverside gardens. Flanigan’s is boutique, with a spa and a good restaurant a short walk from the park. Desert Pearl Inn and Driftwood Lodge are great for balcony views. And a Zion Lodge cabin with a fireplace is hard to beat for a quiet evening inside the canyon.

Best Luxury Hotels Near Zion National Park

Zion isn’t a five-star-resort destination, and that’s fine. Here, luxury usually means location, views, boutique design and a spa after a long hike. Start with Cliffrose Springdale and Flanigan’s, then compare the premium rooms at Desert Pearl Inn and Cable Mountain Lodge. If you want luxury with a twist, the high-end glamping camps outside Virgin (covered below) are worth a look. The scenery is the real luxury anyway.

Best Affordable Places to Stay Near Zion

“Cheap” near Zion depends on the date more than the hotel. Spring and fall weekends, summer and holidays push prices up everywhere. Instead of hunting for one “budget hotel,” use this order: compare south Springdale and the simple motels first, then check Rockville and Virgin, then Hurricane, La Verkin and St. George. Only move farther away if the savings are big enough to pay for the extra driving and the lost morning time.

Other ways to save: travel midweek, look at November or late February, book a refundable rate early and recheck prices later, and pick a hotel with free breakfast and free parking. Camping is the cheapest option of all if you can get a site.

Best Hotels Near Zion Without a Car

Stay in north or central Springdale, ideally near the pedestrian entrance or a town shuttle stop, with restaurants and a small grocery within walking distance. Cable Mountain Lodge, Cliffrose, Desert Pearl Inn and Flanigan’s make the most sense. From there you can walk into the park and ride the canyon shuttle to every major trailhead. Zion is one of the easiest national parks to enjoy without driving, as long as you pick the right base.

Best Hotels Near Zion for Photographers

Sunrise and sunset don’t wait for your commute. Stay at Zion Lodge or in north Springdale, so you can reach the Canyon Junction bridge for sunset over the Watchman or catch the first shuttle for morning light. A 40-minute drive from Hurricane before dawn gets old fast.

Pet-Friendly Hotels Near Zion

Several Springdale hotels take pets, including Red Cliffs Lodge Zion and SpringHill Suites (for a fee). But remember that a pet-friendly hotel doesn’t mean pet-friendly hiking. In Zion, pets are only allowed on the paved Pa’rus Trail, roads and campgrounds, and never on the shuttle or other trails. If your trip is built around hiking, plan for daytime pet care before you book. Some kennels and pet sitters operate in the Springdale area.

Accessible Stays Near Zion

Zion Lodge and most larger Springdale hotels have accessible rooms, and both the canyon shuttle and the Springdale shuttle are wheelchair accessible. A hotel close to a shuttle stop, plus the paved Pa’rus Trail and Riverside Walk, makes Zion very doable with limited mobility. Always call the hotel to confirm the exact room features you need.

Other Towns to Stay Near Zion National Park

Should You Stay in Rockville?

Rockville is a tiny, quiet town just west of Springdale, about ten minutes from the entrance. It’s mostly vacation rentals and small B&Bs. You get peace, dark skies and sometimes better prices. The catch is that it’s outside the town shuttle route, so you’ll drive into Springdale and deal with parking. Good for a longer, slower stay. Less ideal for early-start hikers on a short trip.

Virgin and La Verkin: Glamping Country and Kolob Terrace

About 25 to 30 minutes from the South Entrance, the small towns of Virgin and La Verkin have newer hotels (such as a Fairfield Inn in Virgin and a La Quinta in La Verkin) and most of the area’s glamping camps. Virgin is also where the Kolob Terrace Road starts, so it’s a good base if you plan to hike up there. You’ll be driving and parking every day, though.

Should You Stay in Hurricane?

Hurricane has more affordable hotels, more restaurants and grocery stores, and it’s popular for longer southern Utah trips that mix Zion with mountain biking, Sand Hollow State Park or Snow Canyon. It’s about 35 to 45 minutes to Springdale. I wouldn’t choose it for a first one- or two-day Zion trip just to save a little. Use it when the price difference is significant, or your trip is longer.

Should You Stay in St. George?

St. George is a real city, about an hour from Zion, with an airport, big-name hotels, golf, shopping and every kind of restaurant. It works well on your first or last night, or for a wider vacation where Zion is just one part. For a trip centered on Zion, it’s too far to commute from every day.

Cedar City: Best for Kolob Canyons

Cedar City is about an hour from Zion Canyon, but only around 20 minutes from the separate Kolob Canyons entrance off Interstate 15. It’s a sensible base if you’re combining Kolob Canyons with Cedar Breaks or Bryce, or arriving late on the interstate. It’s not a good base for the main canyon.

East Zion, Mount Carmel Junction and Kanab

Normally, the east side is a great base for Canyon Overlook, Checkerboard Mesa and a Zion, Bryce and Grand Canyon North Rim road trip, with resorts like Zion Ponderosa and motels in Mount Carmel Junction, Orderville and Kanab. Even in normal times it’s a poor base for Angels Landing and The Narrows, because you have to cross the whole park through the tunnel each morning.

Right now, with the Zion-Mount Carmel Highway closed after the September 30, 2026 rockfall, getting from the east side to Zion Canyon means a long detour, roughly two hours or more. If you’ve booked east of the park, check whether you can switch to Springdale, or plan your east-side days separately and watch the park’s alerts for the reopening.

Glamping, Camping and Vacation Rentals Near Zion

Glamping Near Zion National Park

There’s no glamping inside the park, but there’s plenty nearby, mostly around Virgin, 20 to 30 minutes from the South Entrance. It’s a fun middle ground between a hotel and a tent: real beds, often private bathrooms, and huge open views of desert and cliffs.

Glamping SpotAreaWhat It’s Like
Under Canvas ZionKolob Terrace Road, near VirginSafari-style tents on open desert with big views; seasonal (roughly spring to fall)
AutoCamp ZionVirgin, on the Virgin RiverAirstream trailers and cabins with air conditioning and modern bathrooms, more resort-like; open year-round
Zion WildflowerVirginCanvas tents, covered wagons and bungalows at several price levels
Zion PonderosaEast side, near the East EntranceLarge ranch resort with cabins and glamping; currently a long detour to Zion Canyon

Glamping is great for atmosphere and stargazing, but you’ll drive and park every day, and tents can be hot in summer and cold at night in spring and fall. Check exactly what’s included (air conditioning, private bathroom, heating) before you book.

Camping in Zion as a Hotel Alternative

Zion has three developed campgrounds. Watchman Campground is open year-round, while South Campground and Lava Point are seasonal. South Campground reopened in May 2026 and now takes reservations. The park’s campgrounds are full almost every night from mid-March to late November, so book well ahead and don’t count on finding a site on arrival.

Watchman and South sit right by the South Entrance, the visitor center and the canyon shuttle, so you get the same easy access as a north Springdale hotel for a fraction of the price. Lava Point is high up on the Kolob Terrace, about 1.5 hours from Zion Canyon. Choose camping if you have gear and love a starry night. Choose a hotel if you want air conditioning, a private bathroom, a pool and no setup after a long hike.

Vacation Rentals Near Zion

Rentals are common in Springdale, Rockville, Virgin and Hurricane, and they can work well for larger families or groups who want a kitchen and separate bedrooms. Check the exact location (is it on the shuttle route?), parking, cleaning fees and cancellation terms, which are often stricter than hotels.

Where to Stay for the Big Zion Hikes

Best Place to Stay for Angels Landing

Stay at Zion Lodge or in Springdale. Angels Landing starts at The Grotto (shuttle stop 6), one stop past the lodge. During shuttle season you can’t drive there, so what matters is how fast you can get on an early shuttle. Remember you’ll need a permit for the chains section, and Scout Lookout below it needs no permit.

Best Place to Stay for The Narrows

Again, Zion Lodge or Springdale. The bottom-up Narrows hike starts at the Temple of Sinawava, the last shuttle stop, about 45 minutes from the visitor center. Staying in Springdale has a bonus: the outfitters that rent Narrows shoes, neoprene socks and walking sticks are in town, and most let you pick up gear the evening before. For both hikes and every other trail in the park, see our guide to the best hikes in Zion National Park.

Best Place to Stay for Kolob Canyons and Kolob Terrace

For a day in Kolob Canyons, Springdale still works (about 45 minutes to an hour away). If Kolob is your main focus, Cedar City is closer. For Kolob Terrace hikes like Northgate Peaks, Virgin and its glamping camps put you right at the bottom of the road.

Where to Stay Based on How Long You Have

Where to Stay for a 1-Day Zion Trip

Stay in north or central Springdale. With one day, every minute counts. You want to wake up, eat, walk or shuttle into the park, hike, and come back for dinner without touching your car. Saving 30 to 60 minutes in the morning is worth more than a small discount on the room.

Where to Stay for 2 or 3 Days in Zion

Springdale is still the best answer for two or three nights. One hotel for the whole stay means no packing up and checking out mid-trip. If you have more than three days, you could add a night or two near Kolob or Virgin to break things up. For day-by-day plans, see our Zion National Park itinerary for 1, 2 or 3 days.

Where to Stay for a Zion and Bryce Canyon Road Trip

Don’t use one hotel as a base for both parks. They’re about two hours apart in normal conditions, and longer while the Zion-Mount Carmel Highway is closed (plan on about 2.5 to 3 hours via Interstate 15 and Highway 20). Stay in Springdale for your Zion days, then move to Bryce Canyon City or Tropic for Bryce. See our Zion to Bryce Canyon road trip guide for the route and stops, and our Bryce Canyon itinerary for your days there.

When to Book Hotels Near Zion

Book hotels near Zion as early as you can, especially for spring, summer, fall weekends and holidays. Zion Lodge opens reservations about a year ahead and fills fast. Springdale has more rooms, but the best-located hotels still sell out on busy dates.

A simple strategy works well. As soon as your dates are fairly firm, book a refundable rate. Then check prices again every few weeks, and rebook if you find something better. Don’t wait for a last-minute deal if your trip depends on a specific hotel, room type or Zion Lodge. If the lodge is a must, book it first and build your plans around those dates.

Does Zion Lodge Sell Out?

Yes, regularly. It’s the only hotel inside the park, so prime dates can go many months ahead. If it’s full, keep checking. Cancellations do happen, especially in the weeks before your trip.

When Are Hotel Prices Lowest Near Zion?

Prices change all the time, so treat any “average rate” you see online with caution. In general, demand peaks in spring, summer, fall weekends and holiday periods. Winter (except the holidays) and midweek stays usually offer the best availability and value. Always search your exact dates. Our guide to the best time to visit Zion National Park breaks down weather and crowds month by month.

Hotel Details That Matter More Than You Think

Free Breakfast

For hikers, an on-site breakfast is worth more than it sounds. It means no restaurant queue and an earlier spot in the shuttle line. If your hotel doesn’t include it, buy breakfast and trail snacks the night before.

A Pool

From late spring to early fall, Zion afternoons are hot, often over 100°F in summer. A pool is a real treat after a long hike, and kids love it. It matters much less in winter, or if you’re out hiking until dark. Check whether the pool is seasonal before you count on it.

Parking

Don’t assume parking is free. Some Springdale hotels charge a nightly fee, and street parking in town is mostly paid. Before booking, check the parking cost, whether a space is guaranteed, EV charging, trailer or RV rules, and whether you can leave your car after checkout to fit in one last hike.

Kitchen or Fridge

A fridge and microwave let you pack lunches and keep water cold, and they cut down on restaurant costs. Springdale’s restaurants get busy at dinner in peak season, so having a backup meal in the room helps.

How to Choose Your Zion Hotel in One Minute

  • First trip: central Springdale.
  • No car: north Springdale, near the pedestrian entrance.
  • Special occasion: Cliffrose, Flanigan’s or a Zion Lodge cabin.
  • Family trip: a suite hotel with breakfast and a pool, such as SpringHill Suites or Cable Mountain Lodge.
  • Maximum park atmosphere: Zion Lodge.
  • Tight budget: south Springdale and simple motels first, then Virgin, Hurricane or camping.
  • Zion plus Bryce: Springdale for Zion, then switch hotels near Bryce.

Common Mistakes When Booking a Hotel Near Zion

  • Booking on miles alone. A hotel on the shuttle line with breakfast can beat a “closer” one without the things you need.
  • Staying far away to save a little. Early hikes and daily driving don’t mix well.
  • Assuming you can drive into Zion Canyon. During shuttle season, only shuttles and Zion Lodge guests can.
  • Booking east of the park right now without checking the Zion-Mount Carmel Highway status.
  • Ignoring parking fees and pool seasons.
  • Waiting too long for Zion Lodge. There’s only one.
  • Using one hotel for both Zion and Bryce. Move hotels instead.
  • Paying for luxury over location. On a hiking trip, twenty extra minutes each morning usually matters more than a fancier bathroom.

And if waking up surrounded by canyon walls is worth giving up some flexibility, book Zion Lodge, and book it early.
